HOUSTON, Texas — A fugitive from Colorado was apprehended by Harris County Precinct 4 constables following a routine traffic stop in Houston on April 19, 2024.
The arrest was the result of diligent police work and highlights the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies across state lines.
The fugitive, identified as Trevon Mccray, was pulled over by a sergeant from Constable Mark Herman’s Office on the 11500 block of W Compaq Center Drive.
Upon running Mccray’s information, the sergeant discovered that he had an outstanding felony warrant out of Colorado.
This arrest is a testament to the training and professionalism of our deputies, said Constable Mark Herman in a statement. By remaining vigilant during even the most routine tasks, we were able to take a dangerous fugitive off the streets.
Cooperation Between Agencies Key to Arrest
The successful apprehension of Mccray was made possible by the close cooperation between the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office and law enforcement agencies in Colorado.
The warrant for Mccray’s arrest had been entered into a national database, allowing officers in Texas to quickly identify him as a wanted fugitive.
We are grateful for the assistance of our colleagues in Colorado, said Herman. By working together and sharing information, we can ensure that criminals cannot evade justice simply by crossing state lines.
Mccray to Face Extradition
Following his arrest, Mccray was booked into the Harris County Jail to await extradition back to Colorado.
The exact nature of the charges against him has not been released, but authorities have confirmed that he was wanted on at least one felony warrant.
The arrest of Mccray comes amid a broader crackdown on fugitives in the Houston area. In recent months, the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office has made several high-profile arrests, including that of Tyrus Turner, a Texas fugitive with 31 outstanding felony warrants.
We will continue to work tirelessly to keep our communities safe, said Herman. By taking dangerous criminals off the streets, we can create a safer environment for everyone.
The successful apprehension of Trevon Mccray underscores the importance of routine police work and cooperation between law enforcement agencies.
As authorities continue to crack down on fugitives in the Houston area, residents can take comfort in knowing that their local constables are working diligently to keep them safe.
