The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas has issued a wind advisory for a large swath of North and Central Texas, warning residents of potentially hazardous conditions from Saturday afternoon through Sunday night.
The advisory, which went into effect at noon on Saturday, April 27th, 2024, covers over 40 counties, including major metropolitan areas like Dallas-Fort Worth.
Sustained Winds of 20-25 MPH, Gusts Up to 40 MPH Expected
According to the NWS, south winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are anticipated across the affected regions.

Residents may wish to take action to secure trash cans, lawn furniture, and other lightweight outdoor objects that may be blown around in the strong winds.
Severe Storms and Flash Flooding Also Possible Through Weekend
In addition to the strong winds, North Texas is bracing for the possibility of severe thunderstorms and flash flooding throughout the weekend.
The NWS has designated both Saturday and Sunday as weather alert days due to the potential for intense storm activity.
Isolated storms may develop by late Saturday afternoon, but the most significant threat is expected to arrive late Saturday night into Sunday morning.
These storms could bring heavy rain, large hail, and damaging winds, with the possibility of an isolated tornado.
Flash flooding is also a concern in certain areas due to the anticipated heavy rainfall.
